Week Away to Byron Bay

On a recent girls week away to Byron Bay, we collectively created a list of our favourite things to do in this magical place.

Top 5 Must Things To Do On A Beach Holiday:

1. Hit the beach..
An obvious one. However, settling into a routine of an early morning swim - post walk, was the best way to begin our days at Byron. Making a return to the beach at around 10.30 after our communal breakfast and leaving us enough leisure time before heading home for lunch and before we begin to burn.. The beaches at Byron are undoubtedly sublime so exploring at least a few out of the ten beaches along Byron is a must. Main Beach was closest to our house and had a good vibe with many people enjoying themselves, however Wategos Beach to the East of the town centre was our favourite.

2. Go for morning walks..
We found this to be the best way to explore your surroundings, such as cute cafes, shops and the quickest route to the beach. This is also the best time to absorb the local beach culture as most other tourists are still in bed.. We were also able to chat about the night before or what we wanted to do that day with a fresh frame of mind - a perfect opportunity to catch up! :) On one of our morning walks we stumbled across the Byron Bay Farmers Market, conveniently located at the end of our street. We enjoyed the fresh Vitamin C packed juice that soothed our developing sore throat.. (too many late nights) We also had the BEST bruschetta ever! Think locally grown tomatoes, fresh sourdough and delic feta - to die for! (Farmers Market: Thursday mornings 7-11am)

3. Spoil yourself with a daily gelato..
Doesn't need much justification.. ;) Everyday after our afternoon swim we indulged in Bella Rosa gelato. Delightful is an understatement! We recommend the Blood Orange and Choc Hazelnut combo.

4. Indulge all senses simultaneously..
Picture this: beautiful day, cloudless sky, sounds of waves lapping at the white shore and a panoramic view of Main Beach, holding a sausage blanketed in Tomato sauce in a cozy bed of soft white bread.. Thats what we call an all senses experience!

5. Find requiescence..
Alert! This requires you to distance yourself from your normal life. A good book is a must that will capture your imagination and aid the relaxing process, and can travel from the bed to the beach and beyond!! (P.s naps must follow) We enjoyed a massage and a pedicure but even a lazy afternoon drink on a day bed can do the trick.

What We Wore:
Apart from the nights we went out, we remained quite casual to fit into the relaxed feel of Byron Bay, similar to any beachy holiday.

Our day outfits consisted of a light beach coverups over the top of our cozis. Being of Scottish/Irish heritage, our skin can't handle too much sun before we become freckly lobsters so we opted for dresses and tops that cover our chests and shoulders, along with hats and sunnies! Don't forget the Havi's!

Formalities

After graduating, we had our year 12 formal at Shangri-La hotel on the 16th of November. We thought we would share our choice in attire.

We both individually created a mental image of the look we wanted, surrounding the dresses that we stumbled across. Coincidentally we both had the same style that we wanted to emanate, which was a mix between 20s circa and 'Old Hollywood Glamour'. We aren't your typical formal/prom obsessed gals, but we rapidly became entrenched in the essence of it all.

What Inspired Us:

Inspiration for Stephanie's hair was Kate Winslet's 40s pinned up style

Inspiration for Siobhan's hair was Dianne Kruger's side swept curls

Make up inspiration was similar for the both of us, with traditional red lips and false eyelashes with a reasonably neutral eye.

What We Wore:

Siobhan -

Dress: Vintage boutique
Shoes: Aldo
Purse: Vintage oroton (found at Vinnies)
Earrings: Diva

Stephanie -

Dress: Alannah Hill
Shoes: Leona Edmiston
Purse: Leona Edmiston
Ring: From Greece
Bracelet: Robert Clerc

Hair -
Josephine Agostino

Our Tips -

1. Be open minded! We recommend that you do not go shopping solely for your formal or prom dress, but when shopping throughout the year keep your eyes appealed for a dress you love.

2. Don't confine yourself to a typical 'prom' look, instead opt for something that makes you feel comfortable and that suites your personal 'style'.

3. Look out for hair and makeup inspiration when browsing on your favourite blogs or magazine.

Welcome to the phan bhan family!

We are two friends who have graduated from high school and this is our blog. Our names are Stephanie and Siobhan, we are tea obsessed and love a good red wine (even though we are only 18). We desperately want to live in England, preferably London, to study and explore. Although we are similar and share many of the same interests, Stephanie is interested in design and Siobhan wants to study business. We have been patiently waiting to graduate school to start our blog together and share our adventures and passions with you. Despite the probability of no one reading this, we hope you enjoy.
